The Best Restaurants in Lisbon
Lisbon has quietly become one of Europe's most exciting cities to eat in — not because of trends or Michelin chasing, but because it never forgot what made it great: honest ingredients, generous portions, and the kind of hospitality that makes you stay for another glass of wine you hadn't planned on. These are the restaurants we send our friends to.

Solar dos Presuntos
Avenida da Liberdade · Traditional Portuguese · €€€
If you eat at one traditional Portuguese restaurant in Lisbon, make it this one. Solar dos Presuntos has been feeding the city since 1976. The dining room is warm and unhurried, the walls lined with presuntos (cured hams) and azulejos, and the menu reads like a love letter to northern Portuguese cooking — bacalhau à Gomes de Sá, caldo verde, roasted kid. Book in advance — it fills up every night.
📍 Rua das Portas de Santo Antão, 150
Carvoaria Jacto

Graça · Traditional Portuguese · €€
Traditional Portuguese done with care, at prices that still make sense for locals who know their food. Slow-cooked meats, market-fresh vegetables, a wine list leaning toward smaller Portuguese producers. For the traveller who wants to eat well without paying a premium for the address.
📍 Rua Maria Andrade, 6A
Via Graça
Graça · Traditional Portuguese with a view · €€€
The terrace here offers what is arguably the finest panorama in the city: the castle, the river, the rooftops of Alfama spreading below. The menu is rooted in traditional Portuguese, executed with confidence. Reserve a terrace table for sunset and let the evening take care of itself.

📍 Rua da Graça, 54
Cervejaria Ramiro
Intendente · Seafood · €€€
Ramiro is not trying to be elegant. It has been this way since 1956, and that is precisely why it remains one of the best places to eat in Lisbon. The focus is shellfish: percebes, amêijoas à Bulhão Pato, sapateira. Order the bifanas at the end — it's a Ramiro tradition.
📍 Avenida Almirante Reis, 1H
Real Marisqueira Nunes

Restelo · Seafood · €€€€
Nunes is Ramiro's quieter, more refined counterpart. The lobster tank is not decorative. The langoustines arrive perfectly grilled. The service is attentive in the way that only decades of experience produce. For a serious seafood meal — a celebration, a dinner where quality matters above all else.
📍 Rua Bartolomeu Dias, 112, Restelo
Cantinho do Avillez
Chiado · Contemporary Portuguese · €€€
José Avillez is Portugal's most celebrated chef — the man behind Belcanto, two Michelin stars. Cantinho do Avillez is his neighbourhood bistro: same philosophy, same precision, relaxed setting. The salt cod croquettes are legendary. The natural wine list is one of the best in the city for the price point.

📍 Rua dos Duques de Bragança, 7, Chiado
A note on booking
Solar dos Presuntos and Via Graça should always be booked in advance. Ramiro does not take reservations — arrive before 7:30pm or expect a wait. If you need help securing a table, our concierge team can help via the Travel Agency page.
