Hidden Gems in Lisbon

Lisbon hands you the obvious things first — the tram, the castle, the pastel de nata. The good stuff is one street further. These are the places we send friends after they've seen the basics.

Hidden Gems in Lisbon

At a glance

  • Igreja de São Roque — Roman gold chapel, free
  • Jardim da Cerca da Graça — olive trees, cats, view
  • Estrela Basilica rooftop — €4 and almost no one
  • Tasca Zé dos Cornos — best ribs in town, €12
  • Praia do Meco — wild beach, 45 min south
  • Damas (Graça) — restaurant by day, gigs by night

Hidden, but reachable

None of this requires a guide. But a tuk tuk gets you to four of these in two hours; on foot it's most of a day. We can build a 'hidden Lisbon' route on request — six stops, three hours, no monuments.

Our editorial journal goes deeper into each spot — the right time to go, what to order, what to bring. Worth twenty minutes before you arrive.

FAQ

Questions we hear most

Are these spots really 'secret'?

Lisbon doesn't really have secrets anymore — but it has under-trafficked corners. These are the ones our drivers actually use on their days off.

Can a tuk tuk reach all of them?

All except Praia do Meco (which needs the van — it's south of the river). The rest are tuk tuk-friendly.
